Life coaching helps people feel empowered and to reach and exceed personal and professional goals, these goals could be at work, at home, with relationships or simply exploring the self usually with the aim of some kind of goal attainment.
Whilst a life coach will ask a client about their history, the focus of coaching is not on the past, although this is sometimes touched upon in order to give clarity to both the coach and the client on present issues. The emphasis is mainly on goal setting and the future. Various psychological techniques are used to enable the client to push past emotional barriers and to see life with a more hopeful and enlightened outlook. Coaches help you get from where you are now to where you want to be.
Life coaching sessions can be conducted over the phone, face to face, via email or Skype or a combination of these. Sessions usually last 50 minutes to an hour.
